Content: Attendance at the theoretical and practical training courses that will be given at one of the programme's venues: Advanced regression techniques with quantitative and qualitative dependent variable. Advanced panel data techniques. Advanced multivariate analysis techniques. Structural equations.
Timetable: 36 classroom hours, in the first semester of the first full academic year in which the student is enrolled.
Learning outcomes: Knowing how to adequately design research models, establish the methods and techniques for testing hypotheses, interpret the results and their implications in an appropriate way and know the limitations derived from each analysis technique. Knowing how to apply the computer programmes commonly used in econometric analysis in relation to the research techniques contemplated.
Assessment and control procedure: Attendance is compulsory for at least 80% of the hours. The evaluation is obtained by adding 60% of the result of the exam at the end of the course, 30% of the mark for the work and tasks assigned to the student and 10% of the mark obtained in the classroom.
Type of activity: Compulsory

Content: Participation in seminars and/or conferences organised specifically by the lecturers participating in the PhD programme, as well as by guest lecturers from other national or international universities. Each student must attend six of the seminars scheduled within the specialisation profile to cover the credits for the activity. The contents will be linked to recently published research or research in progress which, in each academic year, represent an exponent of the advances in research in the field. For each seminar, compulsory and complementary readings will be programmed which must be prepared by the students before the beginning of each seminar. They must also submit, present or hand in the report or the tasks planned for the seminar, which will serve to confirm the individual or, where appropriate, group work, all of which is aimed at reinforcing their critical capacity and written expression.
Timetable: 6 face-to-face seminars, equivalent to 36 hours, over three or five years, depending on whether the students are full-time or part-time.
Learning outcomes: Formulating questions, expressing opinions and contrasting value judgements on research results obtained by other researchers. Express written conclusions related to the dissertations attended.
Assessment and control procedure: Students' attendance at these activities will be monitored, their participation in the discussion forums established before, during or after the seminar will be assessed, and the written reports on these seminars that they must prepare before or after the seminar will be reviewed.
Type of activity: Compulsory

Content: Participation in regular meetings for the presentation and discussion of research results, the proposal of new working hypotheses and the design of experiments.
Timetable: 4 meetings equivalent to 12 face-to-face hours over the three years or five years, depending on whether the students are full-time or part-time.
Learning outcomes: To be able to discuss and exchange experiences and results and to express oral conclusions related to the research carried out by him/herself or by other members of the group.
Assessment and monitoring procedure: The director and, where appropriate, the tutor, will monitor the student's attendance and assess their participation in the course.

Content: Attendance at national or international scientific conferences or meetings - considered of sufficient relevance within their area of specialisation in the opinion of their thesis supervisor or tutor - throughout the three or five years of the doctoral programme and presentation of an oral or poster presentation of the work carried out in the development of the doctoral thesis in at least one of them.
Timetable: Two conferences, equivalent to 20 classroom hours over the three or five years, depending on whether they are full-time or part-time students.
Learning outcomes: Demonstrate communication and discussion skills. Exchange results and contrast opinions and judgements with other researchers.
Assessment and control procedure: Certificate of attendance and Certificate of the presentation of the paper will be presented.
Type of activity: Compulsory

Content: Publication of a scientific paper in a journal of international prestige in its field of study included in the Thomson JCR index.
Timetable: Acceptance for publication of an article in a JCR journal is estimated at 300 hours over three or five years, depending on whether students are full-time or part-time.
Learning outcomes: Demonstrate the ability to synthesise, communicate and discuss new and complex ideas through the preparation of a manuscript in English, Spanish or another language, suitable for publication in a journal listed in Thomson's JCR index. Disseminate results internationally.
Evaluation and control procedure: A copy -paper and electronic- of the manuscript submitted in its final version and of the acceptance for publication by the journal will be submitted.
Type of activity: Compulsory
Language(s) Taught in: Spanish/English/Language of the host country.
Content: Mobility stay in a national or foreign centre, belonging to a university other than the one in which the student is enrolled, or a research entity of recognised prestige.
Timetable: One month's uninterrupted stay, counted as 160 hours, over three or five years, depending on whether the students are full-time or part-time.
Learning outcomes: Demonstrate ability to integrate and work in other groups. Exchange knowledge and research results. Express scientific discovery in another language.
Evaluation and monitoring procedure: A report of the activities carried out and the certificate of the academic responsible or of the group in which the stay has been carried out will be presented.
